Taiwan Temple Awards Scholarships, Encourages Students to Give Back

The Yitian Temple in Sanchong District, New Taipei City, held its 61st anniversary celebration and awarded scholarships to underprivileged students, providing NT$600,000 to approximately 300 elementary, middle, and high school students. Lee Chuan-chi, a candidate for New Taipei City mayor representing the Kuomintang party, attended the event and encouraged the recipients to contribute to society once they are able.

Sanchong is the second home for many fellow villagers from central and southern Taiwan who have come north to work hard. I will uphold the same spirit of working hard and strive with fellow villagers to build the city. I also encourage students to give back to society and help those in need when they have the ability in the future.

Lee Chuan-chi emphasized that Sanchong is a second home for many who have moved north from central and southern Taiwan. He pledged to work alongside residents with the same spirit of hard work and dedication that brought them there, leveraging his 40 years of engineering and municipal experience if elected.

He praised the Yitian Temple for its long-standing collaboration with the New Taipei City government on public welfare initiatives. Lee highlighted the temple's role as a stabilizing force in the community and prayed for the safety and well-being of its members and all city residents. He urged the scholarship recipients to emulate the temple's spirit of giving back to the community and assisting those in need.

Yitian Temple is an important spiritual center in Sanchong District. The temple upholds the compassionate spirit of Mazu, has long been involved in social welfare, supports the disadvantaged, aids disaster victims, and donates to social welfare projects, having donated more than NT$100 million in total to various public welfare projects.

Lin Yao-chang, Director of the Civil Affairs Department of New Taipei City, noted that the Yitian Temple is a vital spiritual center in Sanchong, consistently recognized for its excellence by the Ministry of the Interior and the New Taipei City government. Upholding the compassionate spirit of Mazu, the temple has dedicated over NT$100 million to various charitable causes, including supporting the vulnerable, aiding disaster victims, and contributing to social welfare programs. Temple Chairman Lin Kai added that the temple believes in the power of knowledge to change destinies and aims to help students pursue their education, fostering a continuous cycle of good deeds.
