Taiwan to host 2026 Global Extreme Physique Steel Competition; training kicks off in Tainan

The "2026 Global Extreme Physique Steel Competition" is set to take place in Taichung from October 17 to 18, hosted by the Taichung City Government. This event aims to bring together athletes for a test of strength and endurance.

As part of the event's preparation, a "North-Central-South Relocation Training" series began on July 25 in Tainan. The first session, held at the historic Sadian Grand Mazu Temple, saw immediate full registration, demonstrating high public interest. Participants engaged in dynamic and static warm-ups led by professional coaches, tackling five training stations including burpees, kettlebell farmer's walks, sandbag carries, and a 200-meter run.

This training aims to simulate the competition's intensity and rhythm, allowing participants to experience the "Workout of the Day" (WOD) for the promotional category. The event's popularity is evident, with the Tainan session quickly reaching capacity. The blend of intense physical challenge with a culturally significant location like the Mazu Temple adds a unique dimension to the training experience.

Following Tainan, the training series will move to Taipei in August. The "2026 Global Extreme Physique Steel Competition" itself will offer three categories: Elite, Promotional, and the newly introduced "Gym Battle." Online preliminaries for the Elite category close on July 26, while registration for the Promotional and Gym Battle categories remains open until August 23 or until full. The champions in the Elite category stand to win up to $12,000 USD.
