Taiwanese artist's typhoon complaint sparks backlash, recalls past feud

Taiwanese artist Tang Cong-sheng has drawn criticism for his public complaints after his performance in Kaohsiung was canceled due to Typhoon Bawei. Tang questioned whether the cancellation was a "natural disaster or man-made," sparking debate among netizens. Many Kaohsiung residents responded to his post, urging him to be cautious with his words, stating that no one can be held responsible for unexpected events.

E-commerce celebrity "Mr. 486" Chen Yen-chang further fueled the controversy by sharing Tang's Facebook post and quipping, "There's a reason why that clueless guy was scolded by Hsu Nai-lin."

This comment alluded to a significant public altercation between Tang and television host Hsu Nai-lin that occurred in 2017 during the taping of the variety show "Genius Go Go Go." The dispute arose when Tang jokingly asked Hsu if he was a "sore loser." This remark reportedly angered Hsu, leading to an outburst of profanity directed at Tang on set. The incident gained widespread attention when a recording of the exchange was leaked.

Although Tang and Hsu appeared to have reconciled in late 2021 when they co-endorsed a product, the past conflict resurfaced. Tang had mentioned in a later program that his daughter was bullied at school due to the incident. Upon learning this, Hsu reportedly apologized to Tang again, acknowledging his own lack of composure and self-restraint at the time.
