Taiwanese Bands Film 'Karaoke' Music Videos in Finland to Showcase Culture

As part of the "Taiwan Culture in Europe 2026" initiative, Taiwan's General Association of Cultural Affairs (GACC) has brought a unique cultural exchange to Finland. Following the success of the "F:F:F Taiwan-Finland Cultural Festival," which featured heavy metal diplomacy and Taiwanese night market snacks, the GACC invited the avant-garde rock band Zazeedo and the Taiwanese rock band Lily's on the Rocks to film "Taiwanese karaoke" music videos in Nordic streets.

The videos, released on the GACC's Facebook page, transform European cityscapes into backdrops for classic Taiwanese music video scenes. The first video features Zazeedo's song "Heartache," with lead singer Gou Bai and drummer Zhong Qi performing a duet in front of a Ferris wheel by the harbor. The visual blend of Taiwanese flavor within the Nordic urban scenery creates a surprisingly harmonious and engaging presentation.

During the filming, an impromptu scene unfolded when Zhong Qi, playing the role of "Shen's" boyfriend, was "caught" cheating with keyboardist Guan You in front of Helsinki Cathedral. Guan You appeared nervous, but Zhong Qi playfully suggested adding a scene where they share an ice cream, leading to laughter and drawing the attention of passersby. "Shen," a food YouTuber and the soul of the "Shen's Companions" group, embraced her role as a karaoke video vixen.

"Shen" commented that if her real-life boyfriend fell for a man, she would applaud. She described participating in the F:F:F Taiwan-Finland Cultural Festival as a meaningful experience. The trip also included exploring local Finnish eateries, with related videos scheduled for release in late July and early August. The GACC aims for these videos, infused with music, visuals, and humor, to offer a deeper understanding of Taiwan's diverse and dynamic culture to European friends.
