Taiwanese baseball player Chen Wen-chieh, a key leadoff hitter for the TSG Hawks, is facing a prolonged absence due to a left wrist injury sustained on May 30. Initially expected to miss two weeks, his recovery is progressing slower than anticipated.

TSG Hawks manager Hung Yi-chung stated that Chen has not yet begun practicing, suggesting the injury might be more severe than initially diagnosed. The team is concerned about his condition, especially with only five games remaining in the first half of the season.

Chen was placed on the injured list on May 31, ending a streak of 36 consecutive starts. While initial medical checks revealed a bone fracture, doctors determined it was an old injury from his junior high school days and likely a muscle issue, not requiring surgery. The team confirmed Chen's wrist remains uncomfortable, preventing full practice and necessitating continued rehabilitation.

Chen has been a significant contributor for the Hawks this season, recording 50 hits, one home run, 12 RBIs, and 28 runs in 43 games, with a batting average of .287 and an on-base percentage of .349. His absence is a blow to the team's lineup as they head into the latter part of the first half.
