Taiwanese Officer Returns from West Point, Ready to Enhance National Defense

Wang Jing-yong has returned to Taiwan after completing a four-year intensive program at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. The graduate of the Republic of China Military Academy underwent significant personal and professional development during his time abroad, aiming to bolster his capabilities to safeguard the nation.

Wang's experience at West Point was marked by demanding physical training, psychological pressure, and the challenges of adapting to a new language and culture. Studying alongside students from various countries, he learned the importance of teamwork and collective growth, in addition to individual performance. He held several leadership roles during his studies, including as a campus recruiter for international affairs, a cadet troop leader, and a staff officer for the new cadet brigade. These positions allowed him to hone his leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills by assisting international students and coordinating major school events.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Wang actively participated in the Ranger Company extracurricular club. This involved high-intensity physical training, including loaded marches and casualty evacuation drills, alongside specialized training in ground navigation, tactical combat casualty care, and weapons systems operation. These challenging experiences pushed him to overcome personal limits, strengthening his physical and mental resilience.

Wang, who majored in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing, believes that true leadership involves setting an example through action. He is committed to continuous self-improvement and aims to leverage his academic foundation and military expertise to become an outstanding military professional. Upon his return and commissioning, Wang intends to utilize his international education and experiences to lead his team, enhance combat readiness, and protect the people of Taiwan.
