Taiwanese Pitcher Pan Wen-hui Ties Career High in Saves, Set to Close for Asian Games Team

Taiwanese fireballer Pan Wen-hui, currently with the Philadelphia Phillies' Double-A affiliate, delivered a solid performance on the mound, pitching one scoreless inning in relief against the Nationals' Double-A team. His outing lowered his earned run average to 4.91.

Pan entered the game in the sixth inning with two outs, issuing a hit-by-pitch before the runner was caught stealing second base. He then induced an outfield fly ball to end the threat, successfully completing his relief appearance without allowing any runs. This performance marked his third hold in Double-A this season and his fifth save, equaling a career-high for saves in a single season during his time in the United States.

The 22-year-old pitcher is a key figure for the upcoming Asian Games, where he is slated to serve as Taiwan's closer. National team manager Tang Tsung-kai has indicated that Pan is currently designated to pitch the final inning for the team.
