Taiwanese Prospect Yang Po-hsiang Extends Hitting Streak to Six Games in Japan's Minor League

Taiwanese baseball prospect Yang Po-hsiang is showing promising form in Japan's minor league, extending his hitting streak to six consecutive games. The 21-year-old infielder, currently playing for the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles' farm team, has been a consistent force at the plate.

Yang was selected by the Eagles in the sixth round of the 2024 NPB draft. He made his professional debut in Japan on October 3rd last year, recording a hit in his first at-bat as a pinch hitter against the Seibu Lions. This season, he started in the minor league and was called up to the first team on April 10th. However, his time in the top league was short-lived, as he went hitless in his only appearance and was removed from the roster on April 12th.

In a recent game against the Oisix Niigata Albirex, Yang started as the ninth batter and played shortstop. He managed to get a hit in the second inning, extending his personal hitting streak. Despite this individual success, the Rakuten farm team ultimately lost the game decisively, with a final score of 11-2.

Yang's current batting average stands at .283 after the game, with two strikeouts in three at-bats. His performance indicates potential, but the team's overall result highlights the challenges faced by the minor league squad.
