Taiwanese prospect Yang Po-Hsiang hits second homer, extends hitting streak

Taiwanese prospect Yang Po-Hsiang is showing a hot streak for the Rakuten Eagles' minor league team, hitting his second home run of the season and extending his hitting streak to five consecutive games. The 21-year-old infielder's performance on Sunday helped propel the Eagles' farm team to a decisive 9-1 victory against the Lotte Marines' minor league squad.

Yang, who was selected by the Eagles in the sixth round of the 2024 Nippon Professional Baseball draft, achieved his latest long ball in the third inning against Lotte pitcher Ryo Ohara. This home run, a solo shot to right field, marked his return to the scoreboard after 67 days. His first home run of the season was hit on June 10.

In Sunday's game, Yang batted third and played second base. He went 2-for-4 at the plate, including the home run and a single, driving in one run and scoring two. He also drew a walk and struck out once, raising his batting average in the minors to .282. Yang had a brief call-up to the first team in April, making his debut on April 10, but was sent back down after a short stint.
