Taiwanese protester sentenced to seven months for Ministry of Justice intrusions and vandalism

A man known for his protests, Tian Shan Sheng-guo, has been sentenced to seven months in prison for a series of disruptive actions. The Taipei District Court found him guilty of three charges, including trespassing and damaging public property.

Tian Shan Sheng-guo, dubbed "Protest Demon," twice entered the Ministry of Justice last year. On April 14, he rode his motorcycle into the ministry's lobby, shouting slogans against the Minister of Justice and election interference. Despite being stopped by security and later by police, he continued to protest. Later that evening, he again entered the ministry, demanding to file a petition, and eventually entered an office before being removed by police.

His actions escalated on April 17 when he sprayed green paint on a bronze scale sculpture and a sign at the Taipei District Prosecutors Office. This act was in protest against the office's investigation into alleged irregularities in a recall petition. He was apprehended by police at the scene.

The court ruled that his repeated intrusions into the Ministry of Justice and the vandalism at the prosecutors office constituted trespassing and destruction of property under the official's charge. His sentence of seven months is commutable to a fine, and he has the right to appeal.
