Taiwanese Security Guard Jailed for Sexually Assaulting 7-Year-Old Girl

A security guard in Changhua, Taiwan, has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl. The incident occurred in March 2024 when the girl, unable to enter her home, went to the guardhouse to look for her grandmother on the security monitors.

The guard, surnamed Huang, took advantage of the situation. Surveillance footage showed him embracing the girl and then reaching under her skirt, touching her groin area over her safety shorts. The girl, realizing she was being molested, reported the incident to her family, who subsequently alerted the police.

Huang denied the charges, claiming he was concerned the girl might fall and accidentally touched her while lifting her onto his lap. However, the court found his defense unconvincing. The surveillance footage clearly depicted him reaching under the girl's skirt, lifting it for approximately three seconds. Furthermore, DNA analysis of the girl's safety shorts revealed male Y-chromosome DNA matching Huang's, corroborating the girl's account.

The court emphasized the severity of Huang's actions, noting that he preyed on a young, vulnerable child, causing significant harm to her physical and mental well-being. His lack of remorse and failure to reach a settlement with the girl's family were considered aggravating factors in the sentencing. The court ruled that Huang committed forced indecent assault against a minor under 14 years old.
