Taiwanese team signs Dutch volleyball star Michiel Ahyi

The Taoyuan Cloud Leopards have bolstered their roster with a significant international signing, announcing the acquisition of Dutch national team middle blocker Michiel Ahyi. The 27-year-old, standing at 198 cm, arrives with a decorated European career, having won the Belgian Men's First Division title three times.

Ahyi is set to bring a formidable offensive presence to the Cloud Leopards. His international experience includes multiple appearances in the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) and the World Men's Volleyball Championship. His physical attributes are impressive, with a spiking reach of 356 cm and a blocking reach of 340 cm. Beyond his powerful spikes, Ahyi is also recognized for his potent serves, averaging over 120 km/h.

His recent stint in the Korean professional league with the Daejeon Samsung Fire Bluefangs saw him further refine his skills and adaptability. In the Korean V-League, Ahyi established himself as a "scoring machine," accumulating 729 points in a single season, ranking fifth in the league. He demonstrated his clutch performance capabilities by scoring an astonishing 45 points in a high-stakes match against Busan BNK, showcasing his ability to carry the team's offense in critical moments.

Ahyi expressed his excitement about embarking on this new chapter in his career.
