Taiwanese Woman Injured by Wind-Blown Table While Eating Lunch

A woman enjoying lunch by the roadside in Taitung, Taiwan, suffered a bizarre and painful injury when a gust of wind toppled a vacant table from a neighboring outdoor dining setup, striking her directly on the nose. The unexpected "table flip" left the woman bleeding and disoriented, necessitating immediate medical transport.

Emergency responders arrived to provide wound cleaning and bandaging. However, the force of the impact was significant, causing the woman considerable dizziness and an inability to stand upright. Due to the severity of her injuries and the ongoing strong winds, she had to be carried to the ambulance on a stretcher.

While Typhoon Hongxia was not predicted to make a direct landfall in Taiwan, its outer circulation was already generating considerable wind and rain across the island. The Meteorological Agency had warned that these conditions, including strong gusts, could impact various regions, with the effects expected to intensify as the typhoon passed closest to Taiwan overnight and into the following day.
