Take action on railway project

Kuwait's Municipal Council has greenlit a series of public works and infrastructure initiatives aimed at enhancing urban development and public services. During a recent session, the council approved the Ministry of Public Works' request to designate a five-kilometer, three-lane route connecting the Sixth Ring Road with Sector N12 in the Al-Mutlaa residential area.

Further enhancing public amenities, the council authorized the Ministry of Social Affairs to permit a range of activities for kiosks within the central markets of cooperative societies. These approved businesses include watch repair services, traditional food stalls, flower and plant shops, mobile phone retailers, and a mill. Additionally, a site was allocated for a diwaniya in Haiteen, and approvals were granted for the renovation of the Ibn Bahr Heritage Mosque and its adjacent parking area in Sharq.

In the realm of utilities and energy, the council supported the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy by approving routes for an underground cable in West Abdullah Al-Mubarak residential area destined for a cloud data center in Sulaibiya, and a secondary substation in Fahaheel linked to Shaddadiya. The Ministry of Finance also received approval to allocate bank branches outside district centers.

While numerous projects received the council's endorsement, a significant proposal for the establishment and validation of foundational planning for a railway project was referred to the executive body for further action. This indicates a step towards developing a broader transportation network, pending further executive review and planning.
