Talented 19-year-old athlete dies suddenly: 'No parent should have to bury their child'

Isabelle Sava, a 19-year-old law student and accomplished taekwondo practitioner, has died after suffering cardiac arrest in her sleep. Sava, who held a second-dan black belt in taekwondo, was found in a life-threatening condition on August 17 while studying at Queen Mary University in London.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance crew, attempted to revive her but were unsuccessful. Sava was the only child of Laura and Ovi Sava, who are devastated by the loss. A family friend, Adriana Agache, launched a fundraising page, writing, "There are simply no words for such a loss, 19 years is not nearly enough. She was a young woman others could look up to and a daughter any parent would be immensely proud to call their own."

Agache added, "Laura and Ovi expected to watch Isabelle begin her second year of studies. They expected to see her graduate from law school. They expected to proudly stand at her graduation ceremony. Instead, without any warning, their whole world changed. No parent should have to bury their child."

Sava was highly talented in sports, dedicating over a decade to taekwondo. She competed in the 2022 World Taekwondo Championships in the Netherlands, where she won a silver medal.
