Talviku scores points in MXGP despite difficult weekend: 'You can only go up from here'

Jörgen-Matthias Talviku made his debut with the Fantic Factory Racing team at the 14th round of the Motocross World Championship in Lommel, Belgium. The 23-year-old Estonian rider qualified 13th, outperforming his teammate Brent Van Doninck in the timed practice. However, his qualifying race saw him finish 14th after a poor start. The main races proved challenging for Talviku. In the first race, he struggled with the clutch and finished 19th. The second race saw a better start, but a crash in the first corner forced him to begin from last place. Despite the setback, he fought back to finish 18th. "It was a difficult weekend," Talviku admitted to msport.ee. "Testing and everything else was left to the last minute, and my body didn't have the freshness I wanted. There was a technical problem in the first race that prevented me from riding properly. The second race was better." Despite the difficulties, Talviku expressed happiness with the experience of competing in a factory team at a World Championship event. "You can only go up from here, test more, and get stronger," he stated. He secured 20th place overall with five points, while Dutch rider Jeffrey Herlings won both races and the event. In the EMX250 class, Sebastian Leok demonstrated good speed, qualifying seventh. A first-lap crash in the opening race dropped him, but he still managed to finish 11th. Richard Paat finished 14th and Travis Leok 22nd. Leok battled in the top 10 in the second race, reaching fifth place, but had to retire due to a technical issue. Gert Krestinov and Kaarel Tilk placed seventh and eighth respectively in the EMX Open European Championship.
