Tamaulipas Governor Appoints New Health Secretary

Tamaulipas Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya has appointed Dr. Ricardo Gerardo Guerrero Morales as the new Secretary of Health for the state. The announcement was made in Ciudad Victoria on July 1, 2026.

Guerrero Morales steps into the role previously held by Dr. Adriana Marcela Hernández Campos, who had served for approximately three and a half months. During the appointment ceremony, Governor Villarreal urged the new secretary to continue contributing with dedication to the transformation of the health sector in Tamaulipas.

This appointment signifies the third change in the Secretary of Health position within Villarreal's current administration. The first to hold the post was Dr. Vicente Joel Hernández Navarro, followed by Dr. Adriana Marcela Hernández Campos, and now Dr. Ricardo Gerardo Guerrero Morales.

Guerrero Morales brings a background in public administration and public service. He previously served as the head of the Governor's Office since the start of the administration. He is a General Surgeon graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at UNAM, with postgraduate studies in Public Administration, including a Master's and Doctorate from the Institute of Higher Studies in Public Administration. His career includes roles in various public sector organizations.
