Tamsui Science City plan opens for public exhibition, focusing on tech and innovation

A significant development plan for "Tamsui Science City" has been unveiled, with a public exhibition now underway. The project aims to establish a thriving industrial cluster focused on technology and innovative research.

The plan, officially titled "Amendment to the Tamsui New Town Specific Area Main Plan (Cooperating with the Development of the First Development Zone in the Second Phase Development Area)" and "Drafting of the Detailed Plan for the First Development Zone in the Second Phase Development Area of Tamsui New Town Specific Area," was released by the Ministry of the Interior's Land Administration Agency. It covers a substantial 662-hectare area.

This initiative aligns with the Executive Yuan's "Balanced Taiwan Policy - Six Major Regional Industries and Living Circles" and the "Golden Corridor Promotion Plan for the Capital Region." Tamsui Science City is strategically positioned to benefit from the completed Tamsui-Kavalan Bridge, proximity to Taipei Port, Taoyuan International Airport, and the broader industrial network of northern Taiwan. The goal is to connect technology industries, research and development, and living services, creating a key technology hub for the region.

The development will utilize phased land acquisition and will not only allocate space for industrial growth but also ensure the comprehensive development of road systems, housing, commercial areas, and public facilities. This includes planning for sports venues, schools, and medical zones, embodying a vision of a livable community where residents can work, study, and receive care locally. The plan also integrates major transportation projects like the extension of the Tamsui MRT line, widening of Provincial Highway 2, and the North Coast bicycle path network, fostering a convenient, recreational, and sustainable living environment.
