Tangerang Secretary: Information Openness Builds Public Trust

Tangerang City Secretary Herman Suwarman emphasized that public information openness is crucial for fostering trust between citizens and the government. Speaking at a meeting of Public Information and Documentation Management Officers (PPID) on Monday, Suwarman stated that transparency is not merely a regulatory obligation but a tangible benefit for the public.

He urged PPID officials to be proactive and responsive, serving as the frontline for fast, open, and communicative services. Suwarman highlighted the need for PPID to adapt to the rapid pace of the digital age, stressing that enhancing the capacity of PPID staff across all agencies is key to modernizing information services. "Our information services must be adaptive and keep pace with the times. PPID officers need to develop new innovations so that the public can obtain the information they need more easily, comfortably, and quickly," he added.

Mugiya Wardhany, Head of the Tangerang City Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo), explained that the coordination meeting aimed to strengthen PPID operations and ensure all regional apparatus understand the latest regulations on public information disclosure. "We want to reinforce the understanding of what information is open to the public and what information is excluded. This is important so that information services can operate according to rules and public needs," Wardhany said. She also noted the meeting would introduce the new regulation, Permendagri Number 2 of 2026, on Public Information Services in regional governments.

Tangerang City's commitment to information openness was recognized with the highest score in public information disclosure in Banten Province last year. "This coordination meeting is held to strengthen PPID operations in Tangerang City so that we remain consistent in implementing public information openness," Wardhany asserted. The city provides information through various official channels, including its website, the PPID website, the Tangerang LIVE app, e-paper services, and social media.
