Tanker truck overturns, driver trapped for two hours as oil spills

A tanker truck driver faced a harrowing ordeal, trapped for approximately two hours after his vehicle overturned in Kuala Selangor. The incident occurred around midnight near a bend on Batu 7, Jalan Klang – Teluk Intan, Tanjong Karang.

The crash resulted in a substantial spill of used black oil, which spread across the road surface and flowed into adjacent land and the entrance of a nearby house. The driver, a man in his 30s, was successfully rescued and extricated by the Fire and Rescue Department Malaysia (JBPM) Selangor.

According to Ashrul Riezal Asbar, Assistant Director of Operations for JBPM Selangor, a team was dispatched from the Tanjong Karang Fire and Rescue Station after receiving a call at 12:58 AM. The operation to free the trapped driver concluded at 2:51 AM.

"The operations commander reported that the accident involved a tanker truck carrying oil, believed to be used black oil," Ashrul Riezal stated. "A male victim, aged in his 30s, was trapped. Rescue efforts were underway."

The injured driver was subsequently sent to Tanjong Karang Hospital for medical treatment. A Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) assisted in the cleanup operation to manage the oil spill. A total of seven personnel, including officers, were involved in the rescue and cleanup efforts.
