Taoyuan Aerotropolis to Feature Revitalized Waterfront Park

Taoyuan City is set to revitalize a significant green space with the "Longshukengpi Park Regeneration Plan," located adjacent to the Taoyuan Aerotropolis. The project, designed to create a "lively waterfront" environment, is slated to commence construction in March of next year, with completion anticipated in the first half of 2029.

The park, spanning 9.39 hectares of which 5.46 hectares are water, is situated near the resettlement community of the aerotropolis's priority development zone. Officials from the Aerotropolis Construction Office stated that the plan will preserve the existing pond and natural landscape, integrating it with surrounding green corridors. The design emphasizes a harmonious coexistence between the waterfront and the ecosystem, featuring improved pathways, diverse activity spaces, and scenic water views.

Key features of the regenerated park will include waterfront platforms and accessible areas for the public to engage with the pond's ecosystem, observe waterfowl, and appreciate aquatic plants. The plan also prioritizes the preservation of the area's historical and hydrological features, such as the existing pond and ancient irrigation channels. The project incorporates "sponge city" principles, utilizing permeable ecological revetments and water-retaining surfaces, alongside accessible walking paths and facilities for all ages.

This regeneration project is envisioned as a crucial milestone for the Taoyuan Aerotropolis land expropriation project. By focusing on ecological conservation, recreational opportunities, disaster resilience, and convenient transportation, the Longshukengpi Park regeneration aims to become an essential leisure space for local residents and a testament to sustainable urban development.
