Taoyuan athletes sweep medals at 2026 Asian Aerobic Gymnastics Championships

Taoyuan athletes claimed every medal won by Taiwan at the 2026 Asian Aerobic Gymnastics Championships in the Philippines, securing three golds, two silvers and two bronzes.

Taiwan sent 22 athletes to the event, including 15 from Taoyuan. Most of the Taoyuan athletes came from Longtan Wuhan Elementary School and Longtan Junior High School.

Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng met the athletes at city hall and thanked school principals and coaches for years of training and development. He praised the medal winners for bringing honor to Taoyuan and encouraged them to continue improving before the National Games.

Chang said aerobic gymnastics had become one of Taoyuan’s distinctive and competitive sports. The discipline will appear as a required event at this year’s National Games for the first time. He described it as a sport combining strength and beauty that can suit people of different genders and ages, with training adjusted to different abilities.

Sports Bureau Director Hsu Yen-hui thanked Longtan Junior High School and Wuhan Elementary School for continuing to develop the sport through school clubs. Students and teachers reportedly keep training after classes end at 4 p.m. Hsu said the system built by schools, coaches and athletes represented a valuable sporting asset for Taoyuan, and that the city government would continue supporting it.
