Taoyuan City food inspection for Ghost Festival finds all 202 items compliant

Taoyuan City's Health Bureau has completed a special inspection of food products intended for the upcoming Ghost Festival, with all 202 items tested found to be compliant with regulations. The inspection, launched ahead of the traditional festival, covered a wide range of offerings including fruits, vegetarian meals, pastries, snacks, beverages, seafood, and meat products. Tests were conducted for various potential contaminants and substances, depending on the food category and risk profile. These included tests for beta-agonists (including Ractopamine), veterinary drugs, animal ingredients, preservatives (such as propionates), pesticide residues, nitrites, and colorants. The comprehensive testing aimed to ensure that all market-available food items for festival offerings meet the required standards. Health authorities emphasized the importance of self-management by food businesses, urging them to maintain control over raw material sourcing, product origins, storage conditions, and overall quality management. The Health Bureau pledged to continue its regular inspections and sampling to uphold food safety. Any violations of the "Food Safety and Health Management Act" will be handled in accordance with the law. The results of the Ghost Festival food inspection project are available for public review on the Health Bureau's official website and the "Taoyuan Food Safety Information Platform."
