Taoyuan City Mayor Chang San-cheng is championing affordable housing, emphasizing the desire of young people to purchase homes independently. The city council recently passed a self-governing ordinance for the development and management of affordable housing, a move that has garnered significant attention and anticipation from younger residents eager to buy property using their own earnings. Chang highlighted online discussions where many young people expressed their hope to buy a home without generational financial assistance, clarifying they seek a place to live, not to speculate.

Chang presented the ordinance at an executive Yuan meeting, seeking understanding and guidance from relevant ministries, including the Ministry of the Interior, financial bodies, and the Ministry of Justice.
