Tapanuli Selatan Police Warn Officers Against Online Gambling and Illegal Loans

The Tapanuli Selatan Police in North Sumatra have issued a stern warning to all personnel, urging them to stay away from online gambling and illegal online loan activities. This directive aims to prevent financial and psychological harm to officers and safeguard the positive image of the National Police (Polri).

The emphasis was made during a routine internal discipline enforcement and inspection (Gaktiblin) session. Ipda Afran Praja Siregar, the acting Head of the Tapanuli Selatan Police's Profession and Security Division (Propam), stressed the importance of this internal oversight. "Gaktiblin is part of internal supervision to ensure every personnel complies with regulations and upholds the honor of the Polri," Siregar stated in Tapanuli Selatan on Thursday.

Siregar highlighted the detrimental effects of online gambling and illegal loans, noting they can lead to significant financial losses for individuals and their families. Furthermore, such deviant behavior can severely damage the reputation of the police institution in the eyes of the public. Beyond these prohibitions, Propam also focused on social media etiquette, advising all personnel to use digital platforms wisely and maintain proper conduct as police officers, both in public and online spaces.

During the Gaktiblin activity, Propam not only provided guidance but also conducted checks on personnel's appearance and administrative completeness. These inspections are part of a preventive effort to minimize disciplinary violations. Siregar added that the supervision and guidance of personnel will be conducted continuously, reflecting a commitment to fostering professional and integrity-driven officers within the Tapanuli Selatan Police who can maintain proper conduct in their duties and daily lives.
