Tappara signs two players amid injury concerns; Tomi Sallinen joins from Espoo

SM-liiga club Tappara has bolstered its forward line by signing Tomi Sallinen and Jonne Tammela, aiming to mitigate the impact of existing injuries. The team's general manager, Janne Vuorinen, stated that the "team's injury situation has been a bit unfortunate during the training camp, so we needed reinforcements in the attack." He emphasized the importance of having a sufficient number of players due to the "extremely tight playing schedule in the Liiga and CHL this fall."

Both Sallinen, 40, and Tammela, 29, have signed contracts that conclude on November 1. This suggests their roles are intended as short-term solutions to the team's current roster challenges. The club is looking to maintain its competitive edge through a demanding schedule that includes both domestic league play and European competitions.

Tammela proved to be a productive player last season, scoring 16 goals and 16 assists in 39 games for Ässät. Sallinen, despite a slower start to the 2024-25 season with only nine points, experienced a resurgence last year, accumulating 27 points. Sallinen had been without a contract but was expected to remain with Kiekko-Espoo, where his brother Jere Sallinen plays. However, Kiekko-Espoo announced on Saturday that Tomi Sallinen would not continue with the team.
