TAROM's new Boeing 737-8 takes shape in airline colors

TAROM's new Boeing 737-8 aircraft is nearing its entry into service, having been painted in the Romanian airline's livery at the Boeing factory in Renton, Washington. The airline shared images of the newly colored aircraft, signaling its imminent arrival.

While TAROM has not provided an exact date for when the Boeing 737-8 will officially join its fleet, the company stated it would be "soon." The airline previously announced in July that the first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft successfully completed ground and test flights. This initial test flight lasted approximately two and a half hours, moving the aircraft from the Renton plant to Boeing Field in Seattle.

The new Boeing 737-8 is designed to carry over 180 passengers. It features a wingspan of 35.8 meters, a length of 39.5 meters, and a height of 12.5 meters. The aircraft is capable of cruising at altitudes up to 12,497 meters and has a maximum flight range of 5,680 kilometers.

In a unique tribute, the aircraft will be named "Mircea Lucescu," honoring one of Romania's most acclaimed football coaches. The protocol for using his name was signed in June by Elena and Răzvan Lucescu, his wife and son, along with TAROM's CEO, Bogdan Costaș. The Lucescu family has reportedly granted the use of the name free of charge.
