The family of Tatyanna Harrison has voiced deep disappointment and a sense of betrayal following the conclusion of a coroner's inquest into her death, stating it left them with more questions than answers. Natasha Harrison, Tatyanna's mother, shared her disillusionment, saying, “I was naïve to believe that they were going to tell me facts.” She expressed a complete loss of faith in the police, the coroner's service, and the overall system, feeling the case was built on assumptions. Tatyanna Harrison, 20, was reported missing on May 3, 2022. Her remains were discovered aboard a dry-docked yacht in Richmond and were identified in August of that year through DNA testing. Despite suspicious circumstances, the coroner's service initially suggested her death was likely due to drug toxicity. However, on Friday, the inquest jury delivered eight recommendations and classified the cause of her death as “undetermined.” Natasha Harrison conveyed her profound distress, stating, “It is appalling as a mother who’s grieving and desperate that I was able to do a better job than them.” She found it embarrassing that she, without specialized education or resources beyond a cellphone and determination, felt she could have conducted a more thorough investigation into her daughter's death because the official agencies were failing. The family is now demanding a comprehensive review and the reopening of the investigation into Tatyanna Harrison's death. They seek to determine how the involved agencies may have failed in their duties, aiming for accountability and a clearer understanding of the events surrounding her demise.
