Taylor Farms Guanajuato Plant Closure Voluntary, Governor Says

Guanajuato's governor, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, announced that the temporary closure of the Taylor Farms plant is voluntary. The company is cooperating with federal health authorities conducting sanitary reviews related to cyclosporiasis, a cause of severe diarrhea outbreaks in the United States. García Muñoz Ledo assured that workers are not affected and continue to report to their jobs, even though production is currently halted. She expressed confidence that the plant will resume operations soon, following the technical reviews. "We are certain that very soon they will be able to open this place," she stated. The governor also noted that initial technical reviews indicate no evidence linking the plant to the U.S. outbreak, which has caused concern due to the association with lettuce processed at the Doctor Mora facility. "It is important to say that a technical review has already taken place which shows us that there is no indication that this is the source of the propagation (of the virus) that has occurred in the United States, so that leaves us very calm," she added. Taylor Farms is voluntarily facilitating these extensive reviews, demonstrating its commitment and confidence that it is not the origin of the problem. The company's linkage to the U.S. outbreak has impacted its products, and authorities are working to promote Guanajuato's manufactured and produced goods.
