Teacher found dead in school toilet in Bau

A female teacher was found dead in the staff toilet of a secondary school in Bau, Sarawak, on Tuesday. The victim was discovered lying unconscious on the floor and was pronounced dead by medical personnel at 9:08 a.m.

Bau District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Haide A. Rahman, stated that his department received information about the incident after being contacted by the Kuching Emergency Medical Centre via the MERS 999 hotline at 8:53 a.m. Officers from the Bau Police Station immediately proceeded to the location for an initial investigation.

Initial findings indicated the victim was found lying on the floor of the women's staff toilet. Colleagues reported last seeing her around 8:15 a.m. in the staff room before she mentioned going to the toilet. When she failed to appear for her class by 8:35 a.m., a fellow teacher went to check the toilet and found her.

Medical officers from Bau Hospital confirmed her death at the scene. An initial examination by the Bau District Police did not reveal any suspicious injuries or criminal elements on the body. The case has been classified as a Sudden Death Report (SDR), and the body was taken to Bau Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The deceased had served as a Science and Biology teacher for 25 years.
