Technical Issues Cause Widespread Railway Disruptions in Serbia

Traffic on several railway lines in Serbia was altered on the afternoon of May 26, 2026, with the national railway company Srbijavoz citing "technical" reasons for the disruptions. The issues affected both the BG Voz suburban railway system and the Vršac line.

One passenger reported that a train departing from Belgrade for Valjevo before 6 p.m. was stopped near Barajevo. Passengers were unofficially informed that the delay was caused by a malfunction in another train composition. Srbijavoz's website indicated that a train scheduled from Ovča to Batajnica at 7:10 p.m. would not operate due to technical reasons. Similarly, a train from Lazarevac to Ovča, which departed at 5:05 p.m., was canceled on the Rakovica-Zemun section, and a train from Ovča to Resnik at 7:00 p.m. was canceled entirely.

Disruptions also occurred on the Vršac line. A train scheduled to depart from Vršac for Zemun at 6:40 p.m. was canceled, as was the return service from Zemun to Vršac at 8:50 p.m., both attributed to technical issues. The cancellations and delays impacted numerous travelers across the affected routes.
