Ted Lasso actor Cristo Fernández debuts as professional footballer

Cristo Fernández, the Mexican actor who gained international fame for his role as Dani Rojas in the hit series "Ted Lasso," has fulfilled a lifelong dream by debuting as a professional footballer. After weeks of intense physical preparation, Fernández found his opportunity with El Paso Locomotive.

The actor made his official professional debut on Saturday during the final minutes of a match against New Mexico United. The game, which El Paso Locomotive ultimately lost 2-0, saw Fernández enter the field in the 79th minute with the score still tied at 0-0, drawing a standing ovation from fans witnessing a special moment.

Fernández's transition to professional soccer marks a significant personal achievement, blending his passion for the sport with his burgeoning acting career. His involvement with El Paso Locomotive in the USL League One Cup signifies a serious pursuit of his athletic aspirations.

However, the match did not end with the fairytale outcome Fernández and his team might have hoped for. Shortly after his entry, El Paso Locomotive conceded the opening goal to Joseph Quiah.
