Teddy bear stuffed with marijuana intercepted in Argentina

Argentine authorities have uncovered an unusual drug trafficking method involving a teddy bear stuffed with marijuana. During a routine highway checkpoint in Zárate Brazo Largo, Gendarmerie officers flagged a parcel service transport destined for Pablo Nogués in Buenos Aires province. A drug-sniffing dog alerted officers to one of the packages, which contained several toys. Upon closer inspection, a teddy bear revealed irregularities, and upon opening it, officers found a cylindrical package emitting a strong cannabis odor. Field tests confirmed the substance as marijuana, weighing 63 grams. Gendarmerie officials suspect this may have been a test shipment to explore a new smuggling route. The Federal Court of Campana is overseeing the investigation into this incident, which falls under Law 23.737 concerning narcotics. In separate operations conducted in Salta, Gendarmerie personnel also intercepted significant drug quantities. In one instance, three women were found carrying over 7 kilograms of cocaine and 135 grams of marijuana hidden within towels, sheets, and clothing on a bus. In another incident, a minor was apprehended carrying more than 10 kilograms of marijuana while traveling on a secondary road. The three women have been detained, while the minor was released pending the investigation and later handed over to their parents.
