Teen arrested in shooting at Seattle food festival that killed 3

A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred at the Bite of Seattle food festival near the city's Space Needle over the weekend. Police stated that at least three suspects were involved in the violence, with one of them being among those killed at the scene.

According to a document filed in juvenile court, investigators believe the arrested teen and one of the deceased individuals engaged in a gunfight with at least one other unknown suspect. The teen is being held in juvenile detention on suspicion of firearms violations and first-degree assault. Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson confirmed the arrest at a news conference, adding that authorities were still searching for an additional suspect, though they could not rule out that person being among the deceased.

Police initially believed two suspects were shooting at each other, but it remained unclear whether any of the victims were involved in that confrontation. Three people died: a 19-year-old man, a 44-year-old man, and a 56-year-old woman. Four others were wounded, including a 2-year-old boy who was in satisfactory condition. Two other men, aged 23 and 27, and a 39-year-old woman, were discharged from the hospital.

The gunfire erupted around 6 p.m. Sunday during the final hours of the annual three-day festival, which attracts numerous vendors and performers. Attendees fled the area as dozens of officers providing security responded to the scene. Police searched an IMAX theater on the grounds, initially suspecting a second shooter had fled there. Vendors were allowed back onto the Seattle Center campus Monday morning to clean up, with remnants of food and equipment left behind as people fled the gunfire.
