Teenager Collides with Police Motorcycle During Evasion in Slovenia; Moped Later Stolen

Domžale police in Slovenia encountered a group of teenagers engaging in reckless driving with mopeds and motorcycles on Tuesday evening. Responding to reports of dangerous behavior, officers attempted to conduct traffic stops to enforce regulations.

As police tried to halt several mopeds and off-road motorcycles operated by minors, some drivers failed to stop despite police signals. During one such attempt, a teenage moped driver, while evading a police officer on a motorcycle, made an improper maneuver and collided with the officer's official vehicle. Fortunately, no one was injured in the crash, though minor property damage occurred.

Further investigation revealed the underage driver was operating an unregistered moped without a valid license. The vehicle was seized, and legal proceedings are expected. Adding to the incident, while police were processing the scene, an unknown perpetrator seized the opportunity to start the now-seized moped and escape with it. Police are now investigating this theft.

In a separate but similar incident in Trbovlje, police attempted to stop a moped carrying two individuals not wearing helmets. The driver initially failed to stop and, as police tried to detain the passenger, sped off again, causing an officer to fall and sustain minor injuries. Both individuals involved in the Trbovlje incident face charges, and their parents have been notified. Police are urging parents to monitor their children's vehicle use and ensure they comply with legal requirements.

Such actions are extremely dangerous. Fleeing from the police, driving without a license, driving unregistered or technically unfit vehicles, and disregarding lawful orders from police officers can lead to severe traffic accidents with the most serious consequences at any moment.
