Teenager dies after fight in stadium in Beni, Bolivia

Authorities in Beni, Bolivia, are investigating the tragic death of a 16-year-old boy who succumbed to head injuries after a physical altercation with a 24-year-old man. The incident, which occurred in the municipality of Baures, has been classified by the Public Ministry as a 'lesion followed by death'.

The victim was transported to the Baures hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival, showing no vital signs. The departmental prosecutor of Beni, Alexander Mendoza, stated that the investigation is in its preliminary stages, with efforts focused on establishing the circumstances of the event and determining accountability. Investigators have gathered evidence including a verbal complaint report, psychological reports from underage witnesses, a site inspection report, and the medico-legal autopsy.

Preliminary findings from the forensic doctor indicate that the cause of death was a closed, edematous head trauma and aspiration. The written autopsy report is still pending. The prosecutor assigned to the case, Jenny Huayhuasi Catari, noted that the fight occurred around 00:30 on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Diomedes Carageorge Stadium in Baures. The 24-year-old suspect allegedly inflicted blows and kicks to the teenager's head, resulting in fatal injuries.

The victim's brother filed a complaint with the Baures police, and authorities are actively working to clarify the facts surrounding the fatal fight. The investigation aims to bring those responsible for the teenager's death to justice.
