Teenager drowns in Kano pond

Tragedy struck in Kano State when an 18-year-old, Abdullahi Aminu, drowned after falling into a pond at Kofar Gabas in the Danbatta Local Government Area. The Kano State Fire Service confirmed the incident, which took place on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Sani Anas, Director of the Kano State Fire Service, a distress call was received from the Danbatta Fire Station at approximately 3:28 p.m. The call was made by Aminu Lawan, the victim's father, reporting his son's drowning. A rescue team was immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, the rescue team recovered Abdullahi Aminu from the pond, but he was pronounced dead. The Public Relations Officer for the Fire Service stated that the exact cause of the incident remains under investigation. The victim was subsequently handed over to the Secretary to the District Head of Danbatta, Alhaji Baba Ado Sarkin Bai.

The Fire Service extended its condolences to the bereaved family and issued a cautionary advisory to residents. They urged the public to exercise extreme care around ponds and other waterways, especially during the current rainy season, to prevent similar unfortunate incidents.
