Teenager entered girls' high school, wandered for 40 minutes

A teenage girl gained unauthorized access to a girls' high school in Wonju, Gangwon Province, and roamed its halls for about 40 minutes before leaving. School officials reported the intrusion to police after reviewing security camera footage.

The incident occurred on August 25, when the girl entered through an unlocked door around 4:51 p.m. She was reportedly wearing heavy makeup and had dyed hair. By the time teachers responded to student reports, she had already departed.

Police identified the intruder as a teenager and, based on her statement, determined she entered the school out of simple curiosity with no malicious intent. The police plan to close the case without criminal charges, as no criminal offenses were found.

In response, the school has heightened campus patrols and issued alerts to students and parents via broadcasts, newsletters, and group messages, advising them on safety precautions. This incident follows a separate report on August 26 at a middle school in Wonju, where a male individual entered the campus, reportedly to use the restroom. Police also found no criminal intent in that case.
