Teenager in Kyrgyzstan Defrauded of $5,700 and Gold Jewelry by Impersonators

A teenager in Tokmok, Kyrgyzstan, fell victim to a sophisticated scam, losing 500,000 som (approximately $5,700 USD) and gold jewelry. The fraud involved two men who impersonated officials from a mobile operator and the State Committee for National Security (GKNB).

The scheme began when one man, claiming to be from the mobile operator, obtained the girl's personal identification number under the guise of extending her service contract. Shortly after, a second man, posing as a GKNB officer, contacted the 15-year-old. He falsely claimed her personal data had been compromised and instructed her to declare all cash and valuables at home for inspection by a supposed special agent.

A man later arrived at the victim's residence and collected the money and jewelry. Law enforcement authorities have since arrested a 19-year-old resident of Tokmok in connection with the incident. The suspect was found with multiple bank cards, SIM cards, and a specially prepared black box, believed to have been used in the commission of the crime. He has been detained for two months while police investigate further and search for other potential participants in the fraudulent operation.
