Teenager killed in Callao shooting, another youth injured hours later

Callao, Peru – A 15-year-old boy died after being shot multiple times on Friday morning. The incident occurred behind the Mariscal Ramón Castilla Márquez educational institution. According to initial reports, two armed assailants intercepted the minor and fired at him without provocation.

The victim, identified by his initials G.P.L.R.T., was rushed to the Daniel Alcides Carrión National Hospital. Doctors confirmed he had succumbed to his injuries. Police forensics collected bullet casings and other evidence at the scene. The prosecutor's office has ordered an investigation into the motive and to identify the perpetrators.

This killing follows another armed attack in Callao the previous evening. A 18-year-old man, Yareth Alexander Crisóstomo Ferrel, was shot four times while walking home in the Previ urbanisation. He was reportedly targeted by individuals on a motorcycle. He is currently hospitalized in serious condition.

Police are investigating whether the attacks are linked to a potential score-settling, given the modus operandi. The two incidents within 24 hours have heightened concerns about armed violence in the Callao region. Authorities are working to determine any connection between the shootings and apprehend those responsible.
