Teenager killed in sword attack at Swedish school

A 17-year-old girl has died following a sword attack at a school in Fagersta, Sweden, northwest of Stockholm. The tragic incident occurred on Friday, leaving three other teenagers injured, two of whom sustained severe wounds.

Local media, citing the victim's family, identified the deceased as a 17-year-old girl. Reports indicate that one of the injured youths has since been released from the hospital, while two boys, aged between 12 and 17, continue to receive treatment. One of the hospitalized boys required emergency surgery, and both are reported to be in stable condition.

The suspected perpetrator, an 18-year-old man, was apprehended by police shortly after the attack and is currently in custody. Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the violence. Swedish media reports suggest the suspect may be a former student of the school.

Police received the alarm at approximately 2:06 PM. Responding officers arrived swiftly, and the suspect was subdued and arrested by 2:16 PM. During the apprehension, police discharged their firearms, reportedly shooting the attacker in the leg. A significant police presence remained at the scene throughout Saturday as investigations commenced.
