Teenager threatened to 'destroy' D4vd's career before her death, prosecutors say

Prosecutors revealed text messages showing a 14-year-old girl threatened to destroy the career and life of singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, just one day before she died. The messages, presented as evidence in the preliminary hearing, indicate a heated exchange between the artist and Celeste Rivas Hernández.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Hernández wrote, "I'll tell my dad so many damn lies about you; I swear I'll end your career and your life, I'll destroy anything." The prosecution alleges these messages were sent after an argument concerning a relationship between another woman and the 21-year-old singer. The exchange occurred on April 22, 2025, three days before D4vd released his debut album, ‘Withered.’ Reports suggest the pair exchanged over 1,200 texts within a 24-hour period.

The Los Angeles District Attorney's office claims D4vd murdered Hernández in his Hollywood home on the night of April 25, 2025, following the intense text message exchange. Her body was discovered in September, found decomposing in the trunk of a car registered to the singer, which had been towed after being abandoned on a Hollywood street. Hernández's parents had reported her missing three times in 2024 after she began a relationship with the rapper. The investigation revealed that Hernández, who met D4vd in 2021 when she was 11, allegedly had an abortion in 2024. The District Attorney has not ruled out seeking the death penalty against D4vd, who has been in custody since April.
