Tel Aviv police arrest additional suspect in Japanika grenade attack case

Tel Aviv police have arrested a second suspect from Bat Yam in connection with a grenade attack on a Japanika restaurant in Kiryat Ono. The 20-year-old suspect was taken for questioning by the Tel Aviv District Central Unit and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday to extend his detention.

This arrest follows the apprehension of an 18-year-old from Bat Yam last Thursday, also suspected of involvement in the July 13 attack. The Kiryat Ono incident was one of several grenade attacks targeting branches of the Japanika restaurant chain in central Israel within a few hours. Other incidents included two grenade explosions, a pipe bomb attack, and an attempted arson.

Authorities previously arrested Yossi Musli, a crime boss from the Musli crime family, in connection with a series of attacks targeting the Japanika chain. Musli and his brother Eli are suspected by police of involvement in numerous murders and attempted murders against rivals. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover the full scope of these coordinated attacks.
