Temporary Bus Station in Ljubljana to Open August 24

Ljubljana's central transportation hub is set to undergo a significant, albeit temporary, change as the main bus station relocates on August 24. The move is necessitated by upcoming renovations in the broader railway station area, which include the expansion of Masarykova Street. The temporary station will be situated on the current parking lot east of the Ljubljana railway station.

This new temporary facility will boast 46 bus platforms, a substantial increase from the existing station's capacity. Nomago, which will manage the temporary station as part of the Slovenian Railways group, stated that the larger number of platforms is intended to streamline bus traffic and facilitate easier transfers between different public transport modes. Seven of these platforms will be designated for articulated buses.

The new location will have 46 bus platforms, more than half compared to the current station. According to Nomago, the larger number of platforms should facilitate bus traffic and transfers between different forms of public transport.

Passengers will find modern amenities at the temporary station, including a building housing a traffic office and a sales point with five ticket counters. Notably, tickets can be purchased using bank cards, a convenience not always available at smaller stations. Additionally, an Urbanomat and a Slovenian Railways card machine will be nearby. The station will also provide luggage lockers and sanitary facilities. For cyclists, 30 Nomago Bikes will be available, alongside stands for private bicycles.

Nomago and Slovenian Railways have pledged to release comprehensive details regarding access routes, traffic management plans, and the specific layout of the platforms prior to the August 24th relocation. This proactive communication aims to ensure a smooth transition for commuters and minimize disruption during the construction period.
