Ten Days of Music at Zagreb Fair: Listening to Hits by Nirvana, Metallica, and U2, and the First Croatian Pirate Metal Band Arrives!

Zagreb's fairgrounds will transform into a vibrant music hub for ten days as the "Summer at the Zagreb Fair" festival returns for its fourth edition. Running from August 28 to September 6, the event promises a diverse lineup including concerts, tribute band performances, and a demo band competition, offering a wide array of musical experiences for attendees.

This year introduces a new ticketing system, marking the first time the festival will charge for admission after three successful years of free programming. Early bird tickets are available for select programs, while entry to the demo band competition requires advance reservation due to limited capacity. Organizers emphasize that this shift is crucial for the festival's development and sustainability.

Daniel Badanjak, from the festival's organization, highlighted the event's growth from its 2023 inception into a "serious musical and cultural manifestation." The primary goal now is to establish a stable foundation for future expansion. By increasing ticket sales, the festival aims to meet the criteria for applying for state funding for cultural events, which will enable further program development and outreach.

The festival kicks off with a "Tribute Weekend" featuring performances of hits by legendary artists like Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana, and U2. Following this, a two-day demo band competition will showcase emerging talent. The main festival program will then present established Croatian alternative artists, alongside tributes and unique acts like the first Croatian pirate metal band, Rum Smugglers.
