Ten leaders in two days: Putin’s summit schedule in Bishkek

Vladimir Putin’s two-day program in Bishkek is packed with meetings, beginning with talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Russian president will arrive in Kyrgyzstan for the anniversary summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. On the first evening, he and other leaders will attend the opening ceremony of the sixth World Nomad Games in Bishkek.

The leaders will then continue informal discussions at a state reception hosted by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov. Putin’s first day will end with a meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov has said the two leaders still have issues to discuss.

The main summit day, September 1, will bring further bilateral talks. Putin is scheduled to meet Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. His bilateral program will finish with talks with Japarov, the summit host.
