Tens of Thousands Attend Opening of Public Security Sports Festival in Vietnam's Đà Lạt

A massive crowd, estimated at tens of thousands, filled Lâm Viên Square in Đà Lạt, Vietnam, on June 20th for the opening ceremony of the regional qualifying rounds for the People's Public Security military, martial arts, and sports festival. Attendees began arriving as early as 4 p.m. to secure prime viewing spots for the 8 p.m. event.

By 6:30 p.m., the grandstands were nearly full, with organizers estimating over 20,000 local residents and tourists present. Many who couldn't find seats in the stands opted to watch from the perimeter of the square, taking in performances by the cavalry and special motorcycle units.

The festival brings together 34 delegations representing police forces from 17 southern and central provinces, along with teams from People's Public Security universities. Dignitaries present included Lieutenant General Lê Quốc Hùng, a Central Party Committee member and Deputy Minister of Public Security, who delivered the opening address.

In his speech, Lieutenant General Hùng emphasized the importance of physical fitness for national defense and security, stating, "Health to build and protect the Fatherland is a great mission of the armed forces and the people." He highlighted that strengthening military, discipline, martial arts, and sports within the People's Public Security forces is crucial for building a clean, strong, professional, elite, and modern force capable of meeting new challenges.

Following the ceremonial proceedings, attendees were treated to a large-scale, meticulously choreographed performance. The displays included elements of military drill, music, and Qigong, alongside practical martial arts techniques and operational scenario responses, all reflecting the rigorous training and discipline of the security forces.

This festival is an opportunity for police officers and soldiers from various units and localities to exchange and learn experiences, and also a good opportunity for the teams to compete for high achievements.
