Tentoglou leaps to victory in Zurich Diamond League

Miltos Tentoglou continued his dominant season by winning the Zurich Diamond League long jump competition with a mark of 8.45 meters. The Greek star faced strong competition, particularly from Jamaica's Tajay Gayle.

Tentoglou started the competition with a jump of 8.25 meters despite facing a headwind. After two fouls, Gayle briefly took the lead with his own 8.25-meter jump, aided by a better second-best mark. However, Tentoglou responded decisively on his fourth attempt, soaring to 8.45 meters with a favorable tailwind of 0.4 m/s to reclaim the lead.

Gayle attempted to challenge Tentoglou's lead, achieving 8.43 meters on his fifth jump, but it was not enough to overtake the Greek athlete. Jamaica's Wayne Pinnock secured third place with a jump of 8.33 meters.

This victory marks Tentoglou's fourth win in the Diamond League series this year, following his successes in Xiamen, Monaco, and Lausanne. With 31 points, he finished the regular season at the top of the standings and enters the Diamond League final in Brussels on September 4-5 as a strong favorite to win the coveted diamond trophy.
