The official announcement, obtained by El Empresario, the business supplement of Uruguay's El País newspaper, detailed Tesla's intention to introduce its technological ecosystem to a market recognized for its strong adoption of electric vehicles. Uruguay was selected due to its established position as a regional leader in the shift towards sustainable mobility and the embrace of advanced technologies.

While Tesla did not provide a specific date for the commencement of its operational activities, the announcement represents a decisive phase in its regional growth. This expansion mirrors the company's recent activities, including its launch in Colombia in November 2025. Uruguay now joins the company's regional strategy, which prioritizes markets with infrastructure and demand aligned with clean energy.

Although no specific address has been revealed, the company confirmed its headquarters will be located in the Department of Montevideo.
