Tex Walker Announces AFL Retirement

Adelaide Crows stalwart Taylor 'Tex' Walker has announced he will retire from the Australian Football League at the conclusion of the current season. A veteran of 316 AFL matches, Walker leaves the game having kicked a club-record 706 goals for the Crows.

As a young kid from Broken Hill, I dreamed about one day playing for the Crows and I'm so grateful to have been able to live that life.

The 36-year-old forward has had a distinguished 19-season career with the Crows, including captaining the team from 2015 to 2019 and leading them to the 2017 Grand Final. Walker, who hails from Broken Hill, shared his deep gratitude for having lived out his dream of playing for the Crows.

I've shared the journey with so many great teammates, coaches and staff, as well as my family and friends, and I'm incredibly thankful for the role they've played in my career.

"As a young kid from Broken Hill, I dreamed about one day playing for the Crows and I'm so grateful to have been able to live that life," Walker said. He extended his thanks to his teammates, coaches, staff, family, and friends for their integral roles throughout his journey.

Walker also expressed profound appreciation for the Adelaide Crows members and supporters.
